Do you have the option to get an email when an new member joins your forum on or off?

Yes; not only is it a bit of an ego-boost, at this stage in my forum's development I want to get on there quickly and welcome them. Once things get really busy I'll probably turn off email notifications.

Yep, I do have this enabled. I love seeing when a new user joins. I can also see all of their profile information at-a-glance, too; things like "Referrer", "How I found the Site", etc. It's nice to kind-of get to know the member without having to go look at their profile on the forum.

I've had it enabled since I launched my forum, and it's been going for almost a year-and-a-half now, and it hasn't annoyed me yet. :p
Since I have various e-mails spread across over nine different e-mail accounts, it doesn't clutter my inbox. When I want to read e-mails pertaining to AA, I go to my AA folder. When I want to deal with Linnie Forum e-mails, I go to its folder. So on and so forth.

I might try to have that activated on my upcoming forum and see how it works out.

I should implement that, it may make it easier to figure out which accounts are spambots/trolls and which are legitimate. For example, I often see spambot accounts with the ICQ field filled in; I think that's how they keep track.

Oh my gosh, no! I'd never have time to look at them anyway.

I thought it'd be gay. Who knew!

I have never used this in the past because I've always completely hated the use of e-mail as a whole. It was only extremely recently I found out about e-mail applications (Mail for Mac) and love it now.

Same here. In early development I want to be able to get there quick and welcome them early. Hopefully in a few weeks or months, I'll have to turn it off.

From the replies here, you can see who has a small forum, and who has a big forum.

    No insult intended.

I just do not have the time to look through the emails. If your forum keeps growing, sooner or later your going to turn that option off.

And no insult taken; nothing wrong with having a small forum. It just means you haven't hit the tipping point yet :)

    Nice, Savage. Nice.

I've been receiving an e-mail per each new user registration, but I'm highly considering disabling this - I'm beginning to find it incredibly annoying.

I don't get an e-mail when a new member joins.

I never knew how to turn the option on.

I may read up on it and enable it.

Usually, though, I know when a new member has joined, I just go to the "Registrations Today."
