I'm going backwards with adsense. No one is clicking on the ads so I'm only getting pennies per day for impressions. $0.44 in the past 7 days. At the rate I'm going it's going to be 9 months before I hit a payout level. I need to rethink that space used for adsense.

gnatster, I went on your site to see about the placement of the ads and I had to look for them. You might want to add the "welcome header" with the big ad in there and/or the under the navbar links too. I see that you have one 'sponsors' banner, but the links work better for me.

By the way, I 'tested' a couple of links on the ads to make sure that they were working ;)

I know the placement is not the best, that is be design. My competitors are chock full of advertising. See MINI2.com - MINI Forum for an example. My site was built with one of the "features" being that one is not bombarded with adverts in every free space. This cleaner interface is just one of the many reasons I've been able to draw people away from the larger more commercial sites. As much as I want the adsense revenue I also do not want to look like so many others sites. The thought is that in time the traffic level would be high enough that even getting paid for impressions only would be enough to make the space pay. Growth in that area has just not been as quick as I desire so I need to make some decisions. Do I want to be patient and wait for the traffic to sustain that space or do I look at other ways to use the same space. I think for now I am going to try and be patient but reserve the right to cry now and again how adsense is not performing as I want.

BTW, thanks for testing the functionality.

The key thing is to not show any (or few) to your members and mainly show the ads to guests. Nearly every click that I get are from guests and not members. So, I put the conditions in place to only show them to guests and it's helped on my per click and overall numbers.

You should definitely put that to use. Also, make sure that you put a "Remove Advertisements By Registering" link to your register.php file to let guests know that they don't get bombarded with ads when they are members of your site.

Just a thought that should definitely help with your monetizing of your site. Good luck! :D

$14 in the last 7 days. Gone are the days when I made $14 in a day (let alone 44 in a day)

I don't really watch it, I'm just happy to get a check when they come in but if I were to guess, I'd say enough for a nice dinner for the family.

A little over $50 for the last 7 days.

September was my largest Adsense month ever and looks like October is going to be the 2nd best ever. Although, it's going to fall short of October's number by about 33%. But, still a nice amount :)

    Thank ya' :D

I still have tweaking to do as I see that my "in post" ads aren't really doing what they should be doing. So, I'll be removing those to hopefully help the overall numbers :)

Tex, it took me a LONG while before I started making some decent money per month. I don't think I got my first check for like 6 months! LOL

But now, I get a check every month and it pays for my hosting costs and such three times over. So, it allows me to expand my site(s) and put more money towards my hobby :)

It's nice that my hobby/small business is paying for itself :D

Thanks for the encouragement Arny! But, your site also has SO many ads on it you can't hardly navigate without clicking one. I should hope you make that kind of money with that many ads. :D

Seriously though, just my opinion - when I see that many ads on a site, I just go some where else. The skin is very nice though, just way too much clutter. No offense intended mate, just calling it how I see it. ;)
