Will you upgrade to vB4 when it comes out? Or will you wait? Or maybe you don't wanna upgrade at all?
I will definitely set up a test board the moment a public version is released - stable or not. As for my live board, I'm not sure. I would have to wait until most of my modifications are updated and I am also considering having a custom design made. The 4.0 release will signify version 2.0 of my forum - new functionality, new design, new everything.
I've got too many custom modifications that I need to upgrade/rewrite, so I won't be upgrading for quite a while.
I plan on upgrading one installation to begin with, and see how it goes. I'll make the decision about the other ones on a case-by-case basis.
I'm going to wait until most of the post-release bugs are worked out (as there will be) and then determine whether it will be worth it to do so. I'm "maybe" (although leaning towards "yes") at this point.
If it does not affect most the plugins and custom items we have. I will think about it when a stable release it there.
Genius might not be the word.....intellectual super-being may be a little more appropriate. Michelle, Chris is our resident 'judge of character' expert as well as the gardener here at AA. Pay close attention to his free hand as he always tries to do that "look what's behind your ear" trick.
Arny is a student of the Walt Disney school of thought, of course he's a genius <-- is off to go see a Disney/Pixar film, will drop some more posts later!
My forum is small at the moment and although I have a number of modifications on there I am willing to go without them for a while to install vb4.0 I have been browsing my competitors websites, a mate of mine is an admin on two of them and allows me to log in to see admin chat, and they are saying on there that they do not have the money to upgrade to it when it is released. Therefore I am saving all of my cents etc, and when it is released I will be upgrading more or less immediately and then concentrate on getting someone to make a custom design for it to help me launch my site even further it will be something my competitors dont and dont plan on having. I am sure over time modifications for 4.0 will become available.
It sounds like they will be making those big changes they promised slower than anticipated, so the mod situation might be in turmoil for a while.
Depending on how the new licensing is done I'll probably 'upgrade' (total BS but that's another story) one of my licenses and run it as a test board until the first or second bug fixes are released. I think I'll really wait until things are settled down for my main board so I can get a good designer to do a new style since my custom 3.8 style is going to be useless.
I will install vBulletin 4 on my test board as soon as it's released. I have a feeling I will most likely spend time with it, creating a whole new fresh forum over time, launching it months later. I want to take full advantage of the CMS, too.
I wonder how they'll handle upgrading to the CMS version, especially for people who have already paid for the add-ons. I'm holding off on buying the blog add-on until we know what's going on.
