Some time ago, at the request of some of my users, I added a style optimized for mobile phones and Adsense for mobile. One of the requesting users said it was ugly and stopped using it, the others still use it regularly but never click on the ads and never post. Has it worked out better on other forums?
I added one a few months ago. It gets used quite a bit by a couple of my members. Of course, no one uses it for the torrenting forums, so it's only used if you are wanting to post in The Lounge areas.
I added a mobile style here at the request of a member or two and it wasn't much trouble at all. It took me maybe ten minutes to get it all set up and configured. I'm not sure how many use it, but I personally think it's ugly. But hey - functionality is functionality. :p
Simple Machines Forum supports it by default, so as far as I am concerned - why not? : ) I do occasionally make template edits as SMF's mobile theme is not exactly full-featured.
I was considering adding mobile styles to my forums since I know a few report that they access quite a bit on iPhone/iPod Touch. Even if its ugly, long as it works for them, fine by me.
I use the mobile style here at AA and it helps me keep up with things. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but it works I use the same mobile style on my site as well.
