    1. Word Association
    2. Use one word to describe the person above you
    3. Just three words - you can only use 3 words in your post.
    4. Reply only with a question - all posts and replies must be in the form of a question.
    5. Oxymorons - such as government intelligence :giggle:
    6. Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire - every post is a lie
    There are alot more. :D

I'm going to take the counter argument on forum games. I'll agree their fun to some but from my end user POV when I login, hit new posts, and the only results I get are forum games I hit mark all as read and close the site.

I don't know why but they kind of annoy me, it's filler and normally has nothing to do with the forum topic at hand but their fun to some.

From an administration stand point, I don't encourage nor discourage them from time to time I'll post on one but aside from that I don't do any promoting of them or anything like that. :)

This actually is a very big annoyance. On my forum, the members LOVE the posting games - so taking them away or disallowing them is not a viable option.

So to circumvent this issue, I gave users an option in their UserCP to exclude threads from the Games section from appearing in the New Posts search. How? Easy: use a conditional around the "New Posts" link in the navbar where if they have chosen the option to exclude games, the link has &exclude=xx (xx is the ID of the Games forum) appended to the end, and voila! Everybody is happy.
I'm a huge fan of options and choices, so I tend to do this a lot. In fact, I've done it a couple of times here already. :p

Yea i have noticed that and I think that is the best solution if you don't have very many game threads then i like there own forum much better.

We encourage game threads on our forum. They help build community relations. We have a chit chat(the lounge) forum especially for these kinds of games and anything else that is off topic in other forums.

    Games we have are

Rhyme time --can be very funny--our most played
    Fictional Characters A-Z
    Only post if game
Type your username with your elbow--was fun at first but died a quick death
    The you're banned because game

My members' favorite forum game would definitely be the Count to 1,000 thread. It was so popular we actually reached 1,000 and are counting to 10,000 now. Beyond that, the 3 Word Story and This or That threads are quite popular. I may think about starting a few more, though... could be fun to change it up a bit.

I used to like what I called "The Arrow Game", the game where you use <^v to say something about the poster above you, yourself, and below you.

I like them, they make my forum look active even when there is really nothing new.

They will definitely increase the amount of posts your forum has as a whole, but you may want to keep an eye out on just how active they are over anything else. If this is the only activity your forum is getting, even if it's a decent amount, I think there's a problem. (Generally speaking - not directed to your forum, of course.)

I agree. Although it lures attention to your site, It's useless if there is no activity in the main areas of your forum.

I just put a "last post" thread up, offered a free t-shirt, cap, and shipping to the winner.

We are a social forum, so showing up means more than post count.

Its good to allow them as long as it doesn't become THE ONLY active part. Thinking of unique game to DRIVE TRAFFIC from game's thread to other categories etc.
