It's been quite a few years since the last time I bought a CD, though I did get gifts from others as recent as a couple of years back. I like downloading live concerts of my favorite singers and bands from YouTube and saving them on my iPod so that I can listen to music where ever I go.

I only own one CD, it is something a friend gave me for my birthday back in the first half of 2001. I used to buy music when I pretended to care about it a great deal. I don't think I have paid for music since before then.

It's not that I pirate it, it's that I just don't listen to it that much as to justify it.

My girlfriend on the other hand loves music, and more often she will pay for songs she really likes even though she can get it on youtube or whatever else. Her habits have changed since we've been together though - she used to wait and go down town and walk around getting an album. Since then she's got a tablet and a smartphone :) and she usually just pays for the songs she wants.

It is definitely a different world as far as having music to play is concerned these days.

I no longer buy music though I used to buy it all the time. I tend to listen to music on youtube. I have a playlist of about 5 or 6 hundred songs that I put on shuffle mode. I am considering installing an adblocker to avoid youtube's commercials. I will also put my cd's into my cd player on my computer and in my old cd player when I get the itch to listen to music. I doubt that I will ever buy music again.

Well Dan Hutter already told you that you can buy the single on CD. I remember the very first CD I bought was the Guns n' Roses single "You Could Be Mine" from the original sountrack of Terminator 2. Man, now I'm feeling old, I bought that single about 21 or 22 years ago. Wow!

Itunes did change the music industry because it made it easier to get individual songs from a record (not just the ones that where released as singles) but I still feel having a physical support was an added value. That's why I haven't made any digital purchase yet.

You scolding me with a post that came after mine? lol

Those things only existed for a short span of the CD era and they were way too expensive to buy. And for your info the first CD I bought was probably 30 years ago and there were no singles.

I still buy CDs. I dont know what it is, but i like to own a physical copy. However most new music doesnt appeal to me these days....so probably only 5-6 cd's a year. I have this nice big case packed with maybe 200ish cd's in my living room, i think it looks cool. Just the same way some people might collect old Nintendo cartridges or DVDs, i enjoy my CDs.

No, I definitely do not buy music. If I want to listen to music, I will go to YouTube or download a song. The last time I purchased a CD was 11 years ago when I was the age of 15. As an adult, I feel as though I have better things to spend my money on.

I like to buy physical cd's at times for my home theater system. Other than that I don't purchase any kind of music.

I haven't bought a CD in years because I'm lucky enough to receive free CDs of many of the bands that I like because I write reviews for them. :) Plus I used to run an internet radio station and many of the R&R companies still send me CDs.

Sometimes, but I have no need to do that nowadays. I only do it if I REALLY like the artist / song. Or if I'm buying it as a gift.

Since childhood and until my early adulthood I spent nasty amount of money buying vinyls, both 45 RPM and long plays, having a collection of... thousands of them?

I don't know because when the virtual world became a reality to me I gave my sister these records and I began to treasure digital entertainment including music, movies, magazines, games and so on.

However one thing is for sure, I never buy any of these an either software. Freeware and free are my online options to get what i want.
