Do you use sites like Fiverr or do you feel they degrade the true writers out there?

I almost always get burnt when I hire a gig from fiver. It always sounds like a good idea at the time but I figure I've spent about $50 on that site over the years and maybe gotten about $15 worth of goods out of it.
Fiver is fun those nights when I'm drinking and have an extra five bucks to spend but I wouldn't suggest it for serious marketing.

I've never used their content services, they might be better suited for quality work.
I've picked up 4 and 5 dollar articles on digitalpoint in the past and been very happy with them. Some of my highest ranked blog articles are from those purchases at DP.

 

But is it worth it? Why do t for as low as $5 when you can get more for your services? It will mean more money, wouldn't it?

I am not sure what you mean by undercutting the competition. What do you actually mean?

Is Fiverr beneficial in any way?

 

The price issue is solely the issue of the freelancers using it. I don't care it pays bad or good, as long as I can find decent content writers on such sites, it's all fine with me. I personally provide different services (web design), but occasionally post content in forums and can use the money

 

I have found Fiverr to be one of the best sites when you are doing something that you can do with ease and get $5 for it. But providing an arduous service for $5 is not fine with me.

 

If someone is working in a country where $5 USD (technically $4 USD after Fiverr gets their cut) is nearly enough to pay for their daily expenses then they would be willing to provide a service (that would normally cost more) for much less because relative to them, it is worthwhile.
For example: If you are used to making $4 for an entire day of work, then you would be willing to work all day for that, essentially 50 cents per hour if you have an 8 hour day. That said service provided by someone in a country where the minimum wage is $8/hr or more would cost $64... This is a concept behind outsourcing what you can to poorer countries...

 

I ma from a really poor country where $1 is tantamount to INR 67, but $4 is really not much, especially whe what you provide takes a lot of time and effort.

As a graphic designer and writer I think its horrible for both industries because it devalues the services, its like how pissed would your doctor be he found out some other guy was doing the same service he was doing for five bucks? Or maybe a more pertinent example would be the people that do taxes, how unnerving would it be if your tax guy lost your business to some who does the same quality of work for five dollars. It undermines the value of the work because its less the minimum wage for skilled labor.

 

If you pay $5 expecting quality you deserve to be out $5.
There's a reason good writers get paid a lot of money.
For $5 there isn't going to be anyone doing so much as following the first step to writing.

I started a Fiverr gig for writing content 2 years ago and quickly moved up to a top seller in few months. I continued the gig for a year before I moved on to other projects. If you would like to earn well with Fiverr you must move up to Level 1 where you can offer upgrades. I used to earn well mainly because of the upgrades that I used to offer. I had also diversified into various gigs all of which had upgrades. Other than my writing gig all the rest were less time-consuming ones offering guides or likes.

If you want to order from Fiverr, you need to locate the highest rated gigs and check their feedback. Gigs that have been on for a long duration of time with consistent good feedback are the ones that you should buy.

 

I think Fiverr can be used as a stepping stone. It's already quite popular and many people use their sites. If you have a writing gig, with great feedback, this will increase the odds that you will land a big time client that would like you to do some custom work for them.

You can also use the feedback as part of your portfolio so that you can leverage your reputation in case you would like to sell your writing services on other forums.

 

It is still a business and works for most people that way. There's no "Bad" or "Good" about it to be honest IMO. Its a great place for freelancers to make money and for people who want stuff done to find people who are eager to work and make some money. I like Fiverr. There's a lot of good gigs out there.

 

I've never used fiverr to earn money or write content people. Nor, have I used it to buy content. I like to write my own content and get people talking about the thread. It comes natural to me to write new topics because I'm a pretty creative human being.

 

Fiver and other similar providers ruin it for good, quality writers. On fiver I think you can buy 5 articles for 5$ but the articles are never high quality as if a real ghost write would write it, also most of the time they are not unique, they are resold.

 

The concept of fiverr is pretty damn cool, but it has frustrated me too much. First of all they take 20% commission as everyone know which is high and then you dont get your money for like 14 days. Is it really necessary to take 14 days to get your money? If the money was received within a week I would feel alot better about fiverr.
