Wow, we are talking about way back when. I was a teenager at the time and CD's were just coming out. I don't remember the first exact one I bought but I do remember it was Latin Pop. Then I got into a relationship and together we started buying Classic Hard Rock. He loved Black Sabbath so that may have been his first purchase. I quite possibly may have purchased a group called Los Bukis. I remember I liked them a lot.

The first vinyl single I bought, I bought for the 'B' side, Reason To Believe, written by the late, great Tim Hardin and sung by Rod Stewart.

I first vinyl album I bought I actually bought for the cover art, a painting by Hieronymus Bosch. I had no idea what music might be lurking underneath the cover but when I heard it it was a revelation. Up until then I had only heard chart fodder and this was something else entirely.

I don't really know what was the first tape I bought but I believe it was "Senderos de Traición" by Heroes del Silencio, a spanish rock band.

My first CD was a CD single, "You Could Be Mine" by Guns n' Roses. Not so long after I bought both "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II" by the same band. This was in 1992.

I haven't bought a single vinyl yet but I'm looking forward to getting a few ones.

I remember the first cassette I purchased back in 1996. It was music from the early 90's, and was a mixtape of dance songs from big dance music artists from that time. It had C.C. Penniston with "Finally" and Snap with "Rhythm Is A Dancer," among others.

N.W.A's first album as a teen.

As an adult my first album I bought with my own money was Snoop Dogg - Doggystyle.

God I miss being young and stupid.

I'm still a grade schooler when I bought my first tape. Michael Learns to Rock is still my favorite band, but I forgot which album.

The first music CD I purchased was also back in 1996. It was The Real McCoy with hits on it like "Automatic Lover" and "Runaway."

First vinyl was Simon & Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Waters album bought used from a thrift store. I think I played it so often that I wore out a few record player needles on that album alone.

First 8-track (yes, 8-track! :P) was a Blondie album; can't remember which one.

First cassette was... I have no idea. For some reason a lot of my teenage years are a bit hazy. If forced to guess from what I remember of my early collection back then, it may have been a Dr. Demento tape.

First CD was Simon & Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Waters :D followed by Bad Company's self-titled album.
