It's not that I don't like the idea, but anyone who has ever claimed something to be "unhackable" has always been wrong.

So, they can devalue your money any time they feel the urge, without explanation.

    [****][****][****][****] that.

    @Brandon. You posted these:
    And:
I am posting my thoughts and opinions in a discussion of bitcoin as per your request. Why does this seem to bother you? In a discussion many times there is a difference of opinion, this I believe is one of the reasons for a discussion in the first place.

I am sure that many of the victims of Bernard Lawrence "Bernie" Madoff and his Ponzi scams also defended him vigorously as his schemes were growing and were looking good on paper. I am reasonable sure that some who talked out against him, were also criticized by some of the victims. Such is life.

    Re your statement :
I do not think everything is a scam site. you are drawing false assumptions. Indeed I have scanned many sites and found them to be clean, so I do not mention them, This site has been scanned and shows as clean, I am sure that if anything untoward was noticed you would wish to know so that it could be corrected.

If I see a site that scans as viral, I think it is the right thing to do to warn your members that there is a possibility that their PC's could be infected. Is this wrong to warn people? I do not see it as a reason for criticizing me for trying to help your members avoid possible ID theft etc.

This is entirely possible and so should be brought to light so that the organizations concerned can get it fixed. Thank you for your thoughts on this.

Here is a graph with live price updates on what everyone values Bitcoins at
    http://bitcoinity.org/markets/btce/USD

A Bitcoin is only worth what someone will pay for it. The fact that there will only be 21,000,000 ever made makes me think it will be worth much more in the future.

Also here is a popular subreddit if you're interested in more.

I got my first ASIC miner in the mail yesterday, I just about have enough to order another one. It'll be about a month before I have that one.

Do you think you can really make any money through mining bitcoins?

Well... I know I am making money so I guess the answer is yes ;)
Do I think I'll really get a ROI on these if I were to buy them with fiat, not anytime soon with the difficulty like it is but it's more of a long term idea behind it and I think it's pretty cool..lol

Still not sure what you mean by blocks, it's working as a miner if that's what you're asking. They do 333Mh/s consitantly, I've read that you can OC them somehow and get a bit more but you'll get more errors too.
I haven't done anything other then plug it in, found the driver for it and started up Bitminter.

This is kind of my goal, to get a few more and a raspberry pi and make something like this.

    bcminer1_1200.jpg

I know it won't make much, especially by the time I can afford all that but it'll be fun and I can still be part of the big picture.

Hehehe....but you aren't making money! You are making bitcoins, which are officially not a currency of any kind.;)

What I also don't understand, to be totally honest, is how do you pay for something that is a lot less than what a bitcoin is worth (since they are constantly rated against the dollar). I mean, let's say Amazon takes bitcoins as payment and a bitcoin is worth $60, but I only want an eBook for $10. How would I get my "change" back?
