Some communities don't allow the discussion of religion and other things, where some allow the discussion of said things.

So, what topics are off-limits on your community? What are some things that users can't talk about on your forum?

Illegal content, at least in a 'where to get it' sense.

I don't disallow religion, politics or other said things surprisingly. Probably because I kind of like arguing.

Apart from the usual KP etc. We do not allow Racism in any form nor religious or political discussions. We are an international forum and there is just no place for any form of racism. We try to stick to the subjects at hand IE scam related matters.

Religious and political discussions tend to be never ending and seem to promote hostility among members.
They have the potential to disrupt the harmony of a website.

There are many other websites where such discussions can take place.

In our case we want people who may have been scammed to feel safe and secure in a harmonious environment so they can have confidence in the members who are assisting them.

I don't allow topics about illicit sex, violence, etc. It's pretty much a PG-13 environment. Everyone seems to agree because there's rarely been an issue.

I think it's important, as an admin, to be consistent in this respect because the rest of the community will usually follow your lead.

Due to the nature and topic of the forum, we do have a politics section, however it is for premier/paying members. We also do have a premier section NSFW. It does keep people coming back to the community, and by restricting google and other bots from those sections.... winning.

I do not allow content that has violence, sex, or anything illegal such as drugs or weapons.

Anything goes on my OT forum, we have separate section for truly NSFW content that requires special permission to view... Well, anything goes except talk or threats about lawsuits against the forum. Those will get you banned.

The forum that I had, was confined to Web technologies. As such, I did not allow anything else. Abusive language and Racism has always been a no no on whatever I do. So definitely, I will not allow that on the other forums that I might go for

My members can discuss whatever as long as it doesn't violate a rule.

Is this something you care about, cpvr? A lot of your threads seem like threads just to make more threads (no offense).

Illegal content, porn etc. Nothing much else as it's a general discussion & chat forum. Unfortunately, having sexual/mental health discussions prevents me from installing AdSense. xD
