I know the activity stream is relatively new to vbulletin but I haven't been impressed with it at all. Out of the last 5 vbulletin upgrades I did, none of my clients wanted the activity stream on, especially as default as vbulletin would like you to have it setup. It made me wonder, does anyone actually like or use the new activity stream?
I hate it. One website I use has set it to come up automatically on clicking "what's new?". First thing I do is click the new posts link at the top to get to the old style.
I don't see it as pointless per se but Once i figured out how to make the forums page default, it really is not a huge deal to me at all.
Maybe modifying it would be better? What changes would you like to see in the activity stream that would make it more desirable?
Probably the fact of new posts - instead of just showing your friends posts, and new blog posts showing up as well. Like, a more in-depth activity stream.
If the activity stream and the new post link actually showed all the content they should, it would be more useful to me. I see the activity stream as a Facebook stream, updates on everything the users are doing. I don't think either link show all content.. eg.. profile, forum, blog, group, album, cms updates
@Brandon Yeah it is annoying. But I do use it. It actually keeps me up to date with who has posted on my forum. I had a look at the settings and there wasn't much I can really do in there to change anything. People will just get used to it and move on. It's a bit like changing forum software, people will get used to it.
I really like what Mark B's done with his sites activity stream. http://www.bowlandcentral.com/forum/activity.php
I HATE IT FROM THE HEART. Can't understand why they'd use that junk, when there were other excellent ideas they could have implemented. And having it set by default really drives me bonkers.
As I said people hate changes to things they are used to seeing. They don't want it because they think it's shithouse. Some people will look at these things and use them as excuses on why they aren't going with that software.
