Are Blogs Worth it?

Yup. But considering the number of blogs written, even the small percentage that gets read must number in the millions. The really creepy-cool thing is that if we were able to get a general overview of all the blogs written, it would be akin to reading the hearts of nearly all of the people in the world that create the current of change and opinion on the Internet. It has the power that tv had twenty years ago.

 

I think niche blogs are the best and plus if it is a niche blog then you will enjoy writing it. I have had several blogs over the years - starting off with a free one from blogspot and then wordpress and when I ready to start my real blog then I just transferred all the material into the one blog.

My blog is pretty popular - I avg about 550 views per day - I think mostly because I am so controversial on what I write.

 

That's pretty cool, ARealRedneck. Yeah, people like "sturm und drang" (that's probably spelt wrong). My blog doesn't get many hits; probably because I don't do much to promote it; it's really just for myself I write it. Also, I realize a lot of my posts are probably too long, and I really should be posting a lot more often, to give readers something new to see regularly when they check back. I once read that each post should average about 200 words as a casual, general rule of thumb; nearly all of mine are way over that. Still, I enjoy it and that's what counts. It was never really meant to be a money maker, just an experience generator. When I decide to blog with income in mind, I'll have a way better idea how to go about it, and what I want to do.

So, basically English and German are based on similar roots.

Although they appear to be very different languages, they have very much in common. On the North-Western Coast of Germany, there's a dialect that almost sounds like English (called "Plattdeutsch" = "flat German").

What's even more comical is that the word Germany is from Latin Germanica which was the Roman name of that area.

The German word "Deutsch" comes from an Old High German word "theodisk", which means People. lol

So, Germany has always been a melting pot, a country for all people.

 

I always try to get at least 500 words - but if it is something I know a lot about then it may end up being 2000 words...But sometimes, on certain subjects ya just can't write more than 200 words.

One thing that I did find out through trial and error is that cleaning up the harsh language proved more readers will visit - plus half way decent grammar helps and not-so-much the grammar but the spelling.

I am the worlds worst when it comes to grammar but I do attempt to spell words correctly.

 

I agree with this, I actually write my post in MS word so I can see when I mess something up...lol

 

My spelling and grammar are pretty good. I'm relieved your posts are about the same length as mine. And all my posts are "kid-friendly" language-wise. Outside of my rarity of posting, then, I really don't see why I don't get more hits. Mind you, when I was posting two or three times a week, I didn't get many more posts than when I was rarely doing so.

 

I can help you out with this part, you need more links.
Also, have you considered hosting your own blog? You'll have many more options as to look and interactiveness if you host it yourself. It looks like you already have the domain.

 

I've never looked into what is involved in hosting my own blog. I'm a total newbie.
