Ya, it doesn't look good at all. I wonder what Kier has to say about this.

I don't think the case is anywhere near a verdict yet, guys. It's in for the long haul, cases like these run for a few years at least I'd say. 2013?

I would say this is very bad because of the decisions made by the judge the door is no opened for them to be sued for damages and such. I have no idea how much money they have, but this could be where this project ends.. That sucks because I just got my Xenforo license not too long ago and have not finished setting up first site LOL

I don't think it will be the end of XF, IB are just looking for things to try and win their case rather than lose it

Don't tell me this I just bought a license!

As Cerb mentioned this will drag on for years or until one party runs out of money. Who has more money to pay the pitbulls? Unfortunately, my guess would be IB.

Years is right. Look how long Adobe went after Macromedia then finally bought them out

I was going to ask how it's going with xenforo, guess I know now.

I don't think vBulletin needs to buy them out. All they really should do is implement those features that have made Xenforo so popular[like the alerts system].

This makes me think about not going to XF in a week or so.

If it does end XF, what will that mean for all of the XF forum owners?

Wow, well tough times for Xenforo, to be honest, i've not worked on a XenForo forum but to be honest the forum software looks really good and real professional, and the fact they could be forced to shut down aint ganna be very good. So personally I dont know, only time will see i suppose. As for what Shawn said, it is a possibility, if the court says that Xenforo must be shutdown then there would ofcourse be no further updates and all XenForo names (powered by xenforo etc etc) must be removed which would include all XenForo hosted forums.

See that is what I worry about. If XF loses, its possible too, then what will happen to XF forum owners? Will they be forced to legally shut down? Will they be refunded by XF? I want to try XF bad but I don't want to spend my money on it only to have to close it down later on down the road...

I doubt they would shut down. Most probably would convert to IPB or vBulletin.

Well thats the problem you see, when XF are down then im not sure if they would be able to refund or not , it would be a massive loss to XF, but it maybe worth doing a chargeback if they do go best to get money back, but it's unsure what would happen.

I doubt a refund would be given. It would most likely be one of those "count your loses and move on" which is why I am probably going to wait until all the legal stuff is done. :P I hope XenForo wins it :D its a neat software but until they do win it, I will sit back and watch...

I think Kier and Mike can win this. It's pretty petty of IB to do this to them. In fact, I looked over the code and such in XF and vB 4 and there's not a single line of code from IB in XF....it's just IB trying to be assholes and cut out one of their major competitors. They're butthurt that they are losing customers left and right to the likes of Xenforo. :P
