A throne. And you're bowing to me.
In my experience, I've never had one work out to long. I don't know why.

Do you state clearly in your thread what you want to be done? Maybe that could be why they don't work out? I know when I first started out with post exchanges, I always forgot to put that people needed to wait until I had a look at their site before accepting or rejecting a request, because all too many people requested from me, but yet they never gave me a chance to explore around their site and see if it was easy to navigate, register, log in, etc. and as a result, they always did their end before I was ready to do mine, which lead to a few disappointments in my time. So basically, I ended up learning the hard way that when creating a post exchange thread, you need to state clearly what you want to happen. Otherwise, if you don't state conditions/what you want done, people can be confused and start asking you what you really want to have happen.

That's because people don't want to be on your forum and give it attention. When they should be getting the attention themselves. It's like I want you to post on my forum daily but I don't really want to do the same for you.

So basically you're saying that he's not getting his site's name out there enough? That would make sense if that were the case.

No, I mean he's impatience means he doesn't really care if your forum gets quality posts that would make you look active. He'd just give you a quick two worded post and be done with you.

The number one reason why I no longer do post exchanges. Wow. I always try to make quality posts no matter what forum I do an exchange with if I do go that route, and if it's a site where I know nothing about the subject, I'll try to focus on the sections of the forum that I at least know a little bit about... enough to where I can make at least some quality posts, anyway.

Tell me about it. I hate when the go and do a 10 post exchange in a few seconds. All of them being in the forum games section. It's like come on now?

I've had that happen before when we had a forum games section. This is why I also like it when it comes to requesting packages on some sites, how some places have an area when you're filling out the form asking you if there's a certain area they should probably stay away from. I think this should be the case with post exchanges as well. You should really say, "okay, I would really like it if you guys stayed out of the forum games. You are, however, welcome to post elsewhere". I wish I knew about that when I first started doing exchanges, though. You could have someone accept an exchange, and not even ten seconds later, "I'm done with my end!" There are times when I'd see that all too soon, and I'm sitting there thinking, "no way, you can't possibly be done already!" At least if I do post exchanges in the future, I'll know to clamp down harder on the rules and stuff, especially about quality posting. Honestly, if you don't want to do a certain forum because you don't know about the topic, simply don't accept that forum! How hard is that, may I ask? But there too, you have people who seem to want to please everyone and anyone, who will gladly accept an exchange whether they know about a topic a site is about or not, but that's a good way to wind up disappointed when you go on a person's site only to find that you don't know a thing about what their site's about!

I do it in a more informal fashion with no set guidelines between webmasters. What I do is an "affiliation" with a website that has a similar theme as mine. These sites drop from "rival" to "friend". Both sites put a small logo somewhere on the site so members can see. Both sites create an announcement discussing the affiliation and tell the members to support each other because we are now "friends". My most recent affiliation has probably been the best. My members enjoy posting on their forum and their members enjoy posting on mine. I have a great relationship with the administrators as well, we help each other where we can.

With that said, it is all up to the members with this method.

I tend to do post exchanges a lot these days because it gives me something to do, and also; I get free advertising because of it - because I put my site's link and this place in my forum signature. And of course, when I do an exchange, I don't just do posts - I help the forum out by creating threads as well - which helps the community in the long run. Post exchanges don't take too long to do.

I think they're great. Its a good chance to speak with a lot of different people and who knows, you might find a site that you actually like and the become an active member. That is how I found Admin Talk :)

I have found when I do post exchanges i get the retard squad posting stupid crap. I am not looking for a paragraph, but please put some thought and effort into your posts. It is frustrating to say the least.

This is something I've ran into as well.
I've done 2 or 3 post exchanges here. Most went well in the past but it was annoying when I would make my X post, several sentences each proper grammar and really helpful to the thread or site, then I get a 5-7 word reply in exchange..lol

What are your current traffic methods? Are you using posting on any blogs? What about online forums? How about facebook?[increasing your likes], and using Twitter? Twitter, you can use your RSS feed on http://www.twitterfeed.com and it'll go straight to your Twitter account.

I have several RSS feeds from outside sources. I have a twitter account and I have placed on facebook, but no one makes the leap from facebook or twitter to joining my sites. I haven't a clue as to how to start an RSS feed on twitter.
