resolution

    when creating a banner/logo, what is the best resolution and size to start with?

    Banners are normally 468x60
    awww.bannercreator.nu_full_banner_a833.gif

    or you could you a bigger one
    awww.bannercreator.nu_leaderboard_a833.gif

    You don't have to have those exact sizes, you can alter it and make it to suit your site.

    will take those into consideration......
    what about the resolution as this greatly affects the outcome quality?

    I think it should be 72dpi for web images. That's like the default resolution.

    o......i thought the higher the resolution the better as i usually do 300 dpi, but for some reason that comes out very pixelated???

    Do that if you want to print them out or something, but for web images, it is normally 72.

    hm....i tried that but it comes out very pixelated ???

    Don't change the resolution after you made the graphic, do it at the start.

    DPI also effects text too, so be very careful with high DPI settings.

    yeah, i encountered that problem a few times, set it to a low dpi now :)

    Yup had that issue before too, I always use 72dpi, never go over becuase I'm always doing web stuff. For professional print outs you'll need about 300dpi, but only if you are printing.
