Your views on topsites

Yea, time to move on from them, I remember when Topsites were huge back then. Someone needs to come up with a better system.

 

Yea, when I look at the Arrdvark Topsites code, last updated in March 2009, I see a lot of old code and it's also very easily cheated/spammed now, and I think it's pretty much dead. And this was probably the most popular topsite script available...

 

I agree, and the majority of the scripts are all outdated. Cant find one that hasn't been updated recently.

 

Yea, Just going through softaculous, I've disabled a good few dozen of outdated scripts...

 

Did some searching on google for "Topsite Scripts" most of them on the first page are all outdated.

 

Topsites are working wonders for my site, I get so much traffic from them.

 

I do see a good amount of topsites for graphic design forums. Probably the only niche it still works well for.

 

I would just use them like a directory and not care so much about making sure my site stays on top, which is ideal. Not many people go to a topsite just to visit a topsite anymore imo.

 

Topsites are dead IMO. Even when they were back in their prime I never went to one. Mainly because anyone can become #1 as long as they spam the link everywhere they go. Maybe I just never gave them a chance. Oh well.
