Which Forum Software have you used?

I've only used two. I've used MyBB and phpBB. I, personally, like phpBB better than my MyBB. I don't know why.

 

What attracts you to phpbb the most?

 

I think I like the styles a bit more, and the Permissions system is easy and accurate.

 

I find it easier on MyBB, and yea phpbb does have some nice styles but so does MyBB. I like both, but I am mostly a MyBB guy.

What's PunBB like? I've never heard of it before - when did you use it? How long did you use SMF for? Did you dislike the lack of changes to the software, and you decided to use something else or?

 

PunBB is not all that great from my experience with it.

My forums have ran off:

phpbb (2 & 3)
smf
vB (3.x)
IPB (3.x)

My current forum started on phpbb3 (first month) then moved to vB 3.8.x (for about a year) then moved to IPB 3.1.x (last 7 months)

 

Switching to IPB was a good move

 

Getting hacked on vb confirmed my decision.

 

I know a good amount of people being hacked on vB 3.8, it was a great piece of software but sadly its outdated and vB 4 is not that great.

 

I sold my vB license and that funded my IPB purchase so it made no difference to me financially.

Wow great to hear, so I am guessing you either sold the 3.8 license for a good amount or you bought the IPB license for very cheap from someone.

 

Sold the vb for a good amount.
I bought the IPB license from the Invision site.

Yeah, I haven't really experimented much. I feel comfortable with my software of choice, so I stick with it ^^

 

Theres no problem with that, and its the same for me.
