Do you hold contests/competitions on your forum(s)? Why or why not?

I do hold competitions because I've heard it attracts traffic and members.

So far I have just held one contest and it has helped with a good amount of posts. But it really depends on what you will offer for people to be interested and participate.

I think graphics contests are good, IF you find an appropriate prize for the winner. Some forums have an award for the graphics winners (Graphics Guru or Graphics Master etc) and some have special signatures to display the winners accomplishment. However, there are alot of other contests that can attract alot of members or even just create alot of new posts between existing members.

Graphic contests do generate lots of activity as I have seen on other forums, so I might want to try one out soon. Another contest that I have seen that is popular is a raffle. I've seen lots of these on another forum I view and they usually generate 50+ posts.

A raffle sounds good, but that has a similar problem as the graphics contest. What prizes are available to the winner(s)?

Yes Indeed I havent replied to your old PM about having a contest because I have been busy but I dont know if a graphics contest would help as its a inactive section.

I guess. Maybe just stick to graphic services. For now anyway and see what happens in the future.

Depends on how many people enter. If more people enter, it will be larger. If there were few entries, the prize would be small.

The site I'm referencing is a virtual adoptable site, so the raffles usually have a rare adoptable as the prize.

I hold contests on my forums, it helps attract people, reward them for staying with us and is just a nice way of giving something back to the forum for being active. I normally do something which doesn't cost me a lot but it would of cost the person a lot or is very helpful for them.

Yea same here, the last contest we had on AdminBB was for Premium Membership which is very beneficial and we charge $15 for it, but the winner (Coastercraze) won it for free

I hold contests as well - that way we're giving back to our community members. I've ran a $100 posting competition which went pretty well, and brought in a lot more content. But, now I've just been running art contests - that game owners can use for their game.

I just opened a new forum so I am looking forward to having a paid posting contest. I dont have too much money so the prize will be $10 which I think is enough,

$10 is perfectly fine, thats what most cash prizes should be instead of just wasting you money and handing out $20-$100 on cash prizes.
