Is Google PR really needed?

I wish they would update it every month. My forum probably won't be ranked for another year if they don't start doing updates more often.

 

It would be great if they did that... im sure AdminBB would get a PR as we have been in business for 5 months.

 

Google PR isn't that important anymore - its about having quality content, and getting links that help you rank higher. Google PR mattered years ago, but not so much anymore.

 

I agree, but it would still be nice to see an update as still many people refer to it and use it.

 

True - but for what? So they can sell links and such?

 

Not that, because others think their site is better if it has a PR, and the ones that dont are not and clearly thats not the case, as a site can be better even if it dosent have a PR.

 

That's because they're not studying the world of webmastering/SEO - they think PR is still a deciding factor of rankings, its not. Quality content + backlinks are now - you can even tweet/get retweeted and your rankings will go up, even with facebook likes.

 

Yea I agree, Google created a monster by Creating the "PageRank", it should be just disabled instead of inactive that way "PR" wont count anymore. Yea Backlinks more important...

 

Google PR is only needed when you are selling links, and even then you can get away with out having any. Backlinks and traffic are the key, and PR can just some times be a small reflection of that.

I, personally believe that PR is a good thing. I believe it shows webmasters that their going right or wrong in the eyes of Google to getting a high SERPs website. I've also seen reports that PR is taken into consideration with SERPs and will make it easier to get a higher place in Google with a PR. There's also many reports stating that it's useless but I still believe it has some for of worth.

 

Well, I've yet to see Google PR still help people with rankings - you can tweet things, facebook like things, and your rankings go up, PR hasnt' been so important for a while now.

 

I agree with you on the update its just too slow :S
