Xenforo chat room options?

I'm planning on switching one of my forums over to Xenforo within the next few months, but one of the sticking points is going to be the chatroom. It seems everything these days is a hosted chatroom you have to pay monthly for, and I'd really rather pay up front and own it. What's left?

-must integrate with the member database
-must be able to save a copy of the public dialogue for later posting

 

If you want a standard chat room, I'm not sure what to recommend. If you want a more Facebook like chat system, you could always try ArrowChat or CometChat though, those integrate with pretty much any forum software around and happen to be self hosted.

Stupid question: where is said chatbox? I don't see it on the index page. I checked my profile settings and I don't have "disable shoutbox" checked...

It's also there for active users, @Soliloquy you'll need to make 25 post, get one like and registered a week and you should see it.

if you are not 100% set on xenforo, look at IPB. You get a free 5 user chatroom, that integrates very nicely with the forum, or you can upgrade that up to 250 users very cheaply.

 

What is cheap?

I think for decent addons that are supported, its certainly worth it to pay.
I havent tried 1.2 xF yet, but the version I am currently on still lacks many features.

I do have the shoutbox on 1 site, the members like it. They also like that it writes to a specific thread every midnight.

Since moving from IPB to Xenforo, I have been using the Ip chat still and setting up chat on a secondary site. It is not integrated but it is full-featured compared to most chat add-ons.

I recommend checking out the ajax chat mod on XF for free as well as the taigachat pro.

 

Though the weekly chats have been slow lately, I definitely need more than five users.

 

20 members is like 10 dollars i think or 15 dollars.
