Would you sell it?

If someone contacted you and offered $100,000 for your forum would you sell it or would you ask for more or not sell it at all?

Yes, but spend about $50k into advertising and maybe make an advert on my favourite TV channel..

Would depend on who was buying it and why, which would affect the price.

As far as I am concerned I don't own the forum, my members do, I put it up for them.



I would not however do anything that would negatively affect my reputation in my community such as not having full discloser (sp?) with the members.

 

I'm with Abomination on this one. By starting a community as a hobby and a resource, it isn't something I ever intended to make money from, so selling it and closing up shop would be selfish. That's not the reputation I want to have.

If anything though, I'd quickly set up an identical copy of the forum (from a backup) on a similar domain, and mass e-mail the members. Then sell the original site.
