I tend to register all my domains with namecheap and get free whois protection with each domain so I always use them it would be a waste not to really.

Yea, it's great, and when it comes to renewing it at the end of the year, it's probably the cheapest around the net!!!

Do you renew it for the next year?

I've always wondered what the benefits are to having your who's info private on domain names.
I've always let everyone know if I own a site or not, I guess I don't get the point to paying for privacy on a domain name.

PS.. I was going to start a new thread about this but found this one so I just bumped it ;)

I whois protected my domain just so people don't know my exact address and such. Safer like that.

I don't really care much about getting whois privacy on my domains unless it's included for free. I'm not hiding from anyone. I'm out here.

I ask the host who I am with to make sure that my phone number and home address is private. I don't care about my name being used. I do get whoisguard though.

I usually don't use WHOIS protection only on a few domains if I'm doing something controverisal or playing with Google.

    My name is public anyhow.
The address is a PO Box
The phone number is a Google voice number
The email just forwards into Gmail

I'm okay with having that info public.

I don't use it on mine unless it comes free with the domain, sadly, I obtained it for free on one of my low end domains and haven't yet purchased it for my forum's domain yet.
