I think anyone that has a business type of website should get Domain Privacy. So when someone does a whois lookup on you, you are safe and protected from spam and your information is kept private. So do you use it for your domain(s)?

I never got one, as privacy protection is not supported for .in domains (i have 3 .in domains). I use a separate mail ID for these domain stuffs, so usually i don't care about spams (i rarely have any).

I've always used whoisguard/privacy guard and recommend it to anyone who has their own web site. It's not the separate mail ID that matters, as the whois has nothing to do with your mail ID but has everything with your contact information.

If you have a website at all, run it thru a whois database, like http://whois.domaintools.com/ and see what is there about your site. If I look up Terrorz, I see his site is covered by the Godaddy whois privacy. (I think namecheap is cheaper for that) If you plug in any of mine, you will find I am listed as under Namecheap's whoisguard. You will not find my email, phone number, etc. I don't pay anything for the first year of whoisguard protection with a new domain, only once it's renewed.

Huh. I know it deals with all my personal info, but i really care nothing about it. It won't hurt me if anyone get my address, phone number or other, because they obviously can't do anything harmful with it. :)

http://whois.domaintools.com/yourdomain.com gives more quicker result. :D

That would result in your account suspension if they find (Obviously if someone reports). But it happens rare.

Placing incorrect/invalid WHOIS information for your domain can mean that ICANN can revoke your domain and take it away from you if your caught. So if you want to hide your contact details from the public ALWAYS buy whois guard if it's not available for free.

Also be aware that not all domains actually support whois guard :(

Yea, it's only the international TLD's like .com, .org, .info, & .net, etc. that support it :(

What wrong with using it? I'd say you actually are best with having it if you run a host.

Hiding my details could effectively mean I could be accused as being a scammer as I'm not revealing contact details publicly and places like WHT do not allow hosts to be advertised that are not revealing their contact details, etc.

Yea, they are very stingy like that, they are also very trigger happy to ban accounts according to my hosting contacts...
