I could be wrong, but I don't think those profiles (in particular) are connected to their discussion community (or vBulletin) - it could have been custom coded, or they are using some sort of script.

I remember seeing a commercial script that allowed you to add profiles of various things (although I believe it was connected to the member's accounts for their collections, not as a general informational resource). I'll see if I can find the link for you, but if I remember correctly the developer wanted $300 for it.

    Is this a vBulletin-related script?

yes, it was an add-on... I believe it was developed for pet profiles, but could be repurposed. I just can't remember where I saw it.

I share your sentiment. Tough learning these things.

Good luck finding out more information. I am trying to do something similar on my site.

Could you be talking about this? In a nutshell is very customizable to create profiles of about anything. It's not inexpensive but is hugely powerful.

I run it on my forum. Right now it's only being used as tool for displaying and searching wheels.

The Browse function Motoring Alliance :: MINI Cooper Forums - Browse New ShowCases

The Search function Motoring Alliance :: MINI Cooper Forums - Search Wheel Rack

I'm also working on the data model for a grille badge collection display. It's very sparsely populated right now as I jsut started working on it and have only one user doing some testing.

Search side Motoring Alliance :: MINI Cooper Forums - Search Badges

Browse side Motoring Alliance :: MINI Cooper Forums - Browse New ShowCases

I was involved in creating this product so if you have any questions I know every angle of up and down.

gnatster, that was probably the script I was thinking of. Doodles, would that provide the functionality you're looking for?

Their content is not powered by vBulletin. Those pages are separate. You could however use something like Wordpress with a custom template to replicate it.

doodles - If you have any questions about the product I'm using please feel free to ask. I understand the aquarium space as well being an ex-admin and now back to moderator at Aquatic Plant Central. I helped set up the original Plant Finder tool on that site.

The wordpress front end was developed in house by the sites latest owner, Crowd Gather. You'll find that across the board all their sites have the same look and feel on the front end.
