there should be a cool thing built it, where members with cameras and microphones can connect to this thing and see, and chat with other members that are connected...ala netmeeting? i dunno
Sounds like it would be a cool idea, but difficult to implement. Maybe either something that might allow a private text-based chat session, a la Unix 'talk', or maybe a button that would spurn a Netmeeting session, provided both users have Netmeeting installed. Don't know if this is possible with Netmeeting. ------------------ From another BBS: "hmm... Cyrix III, huh? You can put syrup on sh*t, but that don't make it pancakes."
yeah i just realized with netmeeting, you can have more than one person connected but only talk/see to one person poopy
Yikes! I hadn't even thought about having more than 2 people talking. The bandwidth that would be required on the part of each person participating in the chat would be enormous. Think about the transmit and receive bandwidth required for just 2 people vc'ing. Now, imagine that 4 people are participating. Each person now has to transmit 3 and receive 3 seperate video streams instead of one. The number of people in the vc doubled, but the bandwidth requirements tripled. But that's a problem for Netmeeting, and not AlienSoup. The simple chat issue could be handled by ICQ, and possibly AIM (not sure, since I don't use it), which already have linking buttons. ------------------ From another BBS: "hmm... Cyrix III, huh?
