Having facebook at the top like that.... Wouldn't it encourage people to leave your site? Or is there some way you would attract NEW people from facebook to your site as a result of using it.
most places now if you have facebook buttons when people post on your site it posts on their facebook wall that they have done so - and therefore it advertises your site to their friends etc! which in turn could generate more members for you.
Interesting. I wonder how that would work for my members that post all day long. That would be a lot of facebook advertising. I suppose they can just login to the forum, and not facebook too, right?
I tried logging in with my gmail but I was having problems and gave up. Can see this being a hit when perfected
Out of curiosity, how soon do you think it is to being perfected Nick? I was wondering whether it's stable enough to use on a live forum yet.
As we all know, it will never be "perfected" - what mod is? I'm installing it on my site today- or this weekend. We'll see how it goes. But it does work ery nicely on their test forum.
By perfected I meant running very well, coded as good as possible etc etc Right now it isnt perfected to me as I couldnt use it properly with my google account and that is one of the options of logging in using it.
So, what bugs did you find in it that makes you recommend not to use it? I'm just curious, because it sounds like there are quite a few bugs in this mod at the moment.
I didnt really test it other than trying to use my gmail account to sign into the demo forum which didnt work, however I have just tried it again and it has seemingly worked fine this time. The Gmail I can confirm is working for me. I havent tested the rest but if the rest works I would install this myself.
I didn't mean 'perfect' in a literal sense -- I just meant "suitable for use on a live forum". I haven't even tested it out, but I am reading a lot of issues that people are still encountering. Plus, the developer still has it marked as 'beta'.
Sorry if it's annoying that I'm asking this, I'm just considering using it on my forum to replace the Facebook connect mod, since it has more functionality, and I was wondering if it was too buggy to use or there were major issues.
looking at it on vb.org I would say that it is too buggy to use on a live forum yet - which is a shame - I am holding off installing it until a couple of the bugs are fixed and a newer version is released.
Well it is an Alpha or very early Beta. vBulletin.org doesn't distinguish between the two. However there enough early adopters that the bugs should be weeded out soonish. Going to install it myself within the next week to give it a run. Seems though that the Facebook stuff is running for more people. Just the Other providers (or I should say provider) is giving problems and a few other little bugs. I am interested in their newest released addon, the Widgetizer, as well. That one looks like a good tool.
