Many of the forums lacked things that the members constantly asked. Staff on those forums weren't up to par. Many were starting to tank. In the past year or so, my forum has declined rapidly due to lack of maintenance. (Quick History) Now, I am trying to relaunch it. Feel free to criticize or give me tips/help.
I always was impressed with the activity you had. Maybe you shouldn't have made the software change if things are slowing down.
I don't believe the inactivity stems from the software change, but rather the human error made by me.
I'm glad that you decided to bring it back though. There's a lot of content there and the forums are fun.
