Hi Nick, Your website looks great. The colors work well and are easy on one's eyes. The layout is great and I like your logo/header.
Very well done, Nick! Did you customize your style further? Mind if I ask what you used for your homepage? Is that vBa Dynamics? Or did you make a custom page? Just wondering because I don't see a copyright for your homepage script (or "Powered By...").
Thanks for the comments, guys. Chani, the only customizations I made to the styler were in the header: I changed the font that was used, and I added the parrot vector images. The homepage is a custom script; it was rather easy to throw together. Dave (co-administrator) came up with it, so I'm not sure if he intends to release it or not.
Cool! Either way it looks pretty nice. There are two things I would change, tho...the random photos section on your front page is the slightest bit wider than the rest of your page, and I think that your background should extend over "Inactive Reminders By Icora Web Design", also; it looks like it's meant to go all the way to the bottom.
Nick, I like your photo gallery, Photoplog. Definitely pertinent for your content. Maybe this is too obvious, but you'd recommend it to anyone? Mind sharing what the cost is? I have been looking around, but my search techniques are worthless. It's a great looking site, very welcoming. FWIW, if I had a bird, I'd join it.
PhotoPlog is free from vBulletin.org. PhotoPlog: The Lite Gallery - vBulletin.org Forum PhotoPlog Pro is better (see Lineolated Parakeet Forum - Linnie Forum Community) and is $35 + $35/year for updates.
Style: I don't know much about parrots, but the style seems to directly relate to your niche and target audience. It was a little hard to stare at, but thats just my personal hatred for green There are some small adjustments I'd make: Remove one of the "Join now" badges Attempt to validate: [Invalid] Markup Validation of http://www.talkparrots.com/ - W3C Markup Validator Remove one of the duplicate links from the navbar for registration The postbit shares the same gradient with the avatar and userinfo (top) with the post content and signature (bottom). I'd try to break it apart with a slightly different color for each section. HomePage: The home page is nice, but with the "Notices" showing it essential repeats itself. I'd move the gallery block to the top and replace the first notice with it. I spent about 10-15 minutes on the site, (didn't register) but I didn't see any unique features on the forums that would attract new users. Over all its a good solid foundation for a site. I suggest perhaps adding some new features for users to try to entice them in. I did find a few nice articles that were informative even to myself and easy to understand so thats always a huge plus.
