I [think] I understand what you're asking, but what topics would these "standard replies" be used for?

I have a whole text file of standard replies I use on vb.org. I got sick of typing the same thing over and over and over again. I do sometimes change part of the reply to fit the situation, but very often I can just do the copy/paste thing.

I don't have any standard replies for my own site since I really don't do a whole lot of moderating on there anymore. Now days the issues I deal with are unique and standard replies wouldn't work.

I use standard replies for the following:

Moved Thread : Sends a PM with the new location

PM Email replied, not actual PM : Have a canned text I send back to the user. Usually they only do it once and then get the message. If I notice the same user doing it often then I write a note just for them.

Advertising without an advertising agreement in place: Send them a nice not to stop, let the post has been moved out of view by all and offer to contact them with more info on advertising opportunities.

When a new Club signs up: Since we have a lot of marque clubs in our space when a new club joins our club registry I send them a note that they have been setup along with instructions on how to best make use of the new permissions the clubs coordinator now has.

Right now I have five "canned replies" for things like replying to email notification, password trouble, etc.

I just use them on vBulletin.com. Its good to remain consistent within company policies and handle things as directed. Don't have any that I use on my own forums.

I don't have any on my own forums, either. My moderators used to have a template to follow when PMing users regarding a deleted thread, etc. but they've figured it out so don't need a template anymore.

I don't use any "canned" replies, however if i am doing something that I think will cause admins to be bombarded with questions i do tell them what i am doing and what the admins should say to members etc.

There was a vBulletin mod a number of years ago just for this. Invision has this built in, I have a "canned" reply for when I move threads from one forum to another.

    I used too.

Users would just enter a BBCode such as "" and it would say something like "Thread stickied."

I had many different codes set up, and if users were feeling lazy but had to use them to get their job done, they'd enter them.
