How is the spam protection doing on AA? About this time of day there has been some spam the last 2 nights.
It's not doing very well. I intend to implement other protection measures this weekend, such as the StopForumSpam referencing modification.
Nick, do you use NoSpam mod coupled with the vBulletin image built-in spam block? That combination makes it VERY rare to get some sort of spam posted on my sites.
All we use on our forums is nospam and it seems to work perfectly, the only spam we get are human spammers.
Enhanced Image Captcha - Stop bots from signing up! - vBulletin.org Forum Thats what i use at my forum. It helps out alot.
all I do is add a question at the beginning....like what kind of car do you drive? one I see its a toyota I know there ok. havnt had a spammer in months. (knocks on wood)
Some spammer just posted the same promotion rubbish in half the forums. NEWSLINE or something it was called.
Well it was at least not offensive, at least the ones I saw selling phones. About the same time vB.com had a horrific post put up.
This is the combination that I live by and always recommend, so yes, that's the setup we have here. Seems to defeat the really popular and active sites though.
No Spam Re-capchca custom question they must answer that requires a human custom question they must answer that requires knowledge about what the forum is about change a character in a box that is prefilled with the wrong contents
I use and prefer the custom random question and answer to combat spam. It stops all automated spam right there, there isn't a need for 2+ spam prevention methods during a registration process. Having one is bad enough, but if you need more than that, then you may want to reevaluate the one you're using.
Theyre most likely humans most of them if theyre getting through, there aint much you can do about human spammers other than be online 24/7 waiting for them Maybe use the Check4spam mod to catch links posted within x amount of posts by the user.
