    Hey,

    Personally, I don't give a rip about reputation. Especially in relation to ranks or anything.

    With that out of the way, I see AA is using a Thanked tweak of reputation. I like it. Mainly b/c it's simple. I'm sure there is reasons behind why AA is using reputation feature and in the form it is.

    I'd like to suggest a twist though and in no way is it a deal breaker or anything, refer to my first sentence. ;)

    Upon giving ONLY +rep, allow the giver to provide a comment. Currently, you cannot do this. Receivers know what post and from whom the reputation is provided.

    There are times I like to +rep someone w/ a small comment. Instances I've found this useful is to avoid a post that provides the small, honoring comment. Not that I'm afraid to share with others, but I'm just sayin'...you know?

    Thanks for the consideration.

    It would be a nice personal touch.

    Sometimes people can get repped because the post was funny, not necessarily 'helpful' in a way. ;~;

    I use rep at vb.com frequently to personally thank people, esp for the older posts after finding the answer I wanted. I don't really want to wake up a 3 yo thread, nor does a PM seem appropriate.

    Used correctly it is also an excellent communication tool.

    People who mark posts as "Helpful" for such reasons get their ratings deleted, and are banned from rating posts anymore.

    It's abuse, and is using the system in appropriately.

    To the OP: I do like the suggestion, but the modification we are using doesn't have that feature built in. So, I'd suggest PMing the user in response to their post. :shrug:

    Sorry, I'm not following your comment to FMB.

    I figured as much. IIRC, I think the mod is by Paul M, enhanced reputation checks or something. No worries and I wouldn't want someone to spend time coding this in.

    Appreciate the response back.

    The mod we're using is by Ted: [AJAX] Helpful Answers - Post Rating System (plus many sub-features) - vBulletin.org Forum

    My comment to FMB was that many people here at AA mark humorous posts as "helpful", when it isn't in any way helpful. This is considered abuse of the system here, because you are only supposed to mark helpful posts as "helpful". Did that make any sense? :lol:
