I was wondering how many of you send a PM to a member who reported a post to let them know the outcome?

How many of you send a PM whenever you edit or remove a post for other than technical reason (image resize, YT embed, etc)?

I generally like to stay on top of these things: Thank the reporter via PM and if applicable let them know what if any action was taken on the reported post and why.

Same with edited/removed posts sometimes people see the PM as a invitation to start a debate on 'how dare you censor me' but most understand.

It's a major time sink so I don't always have the time to send PMs and stuff like that but I really like to, a little follow up goes a long way. :)

I wouldn't send a PM, I would just enabled the report posts thread in the vbulletin ACP and reply in there to reported posts.

Yes, I do send a thank-you PM to users who have reported a post. I don't go into detail as to why it was removed, I just say that it has been handled accordingly. I'm sure they know why it shouldn't be on the forum, because they reported it in the first place.

As for editing posts for things like media embedding and such, I just edit them and leave a note in the "Reason" field when saving the edited post. But if I edit it to remove something from the post, then yes I do contact them.

I typically send a quick stock PM saying their inquiry or reported post has been received and the admin/mods will be looking into the situation....etc etc etc.

for resizing I usually put a little note below the image that I did it OR make a new post in the thread saying I did it.

I tend to send each member a personalized private message regarding the post(s) that he/she brought to my attention. I don't share the exact reason as to why it was removed, but I will "beat around the bushes", so to speak.

I was a moderator on a HUGE forum which now died (had over 3 million posts) so we would get like 20-40 reported posts a day.

Needless to say, it would be completely impossible to get back to all of them. Not to mention, a lot of them weren't really useful.

I will send a reply PM depending on the subject of the reported post. If it is something extremely minor, such as the person that reported it accidently double posting, I probably won't.

I use a generic, "Thank your for reporting this post. The issue is being looked into" type response. It acknowledges the report but doesn't necessarily include the course of action taken.
