Register for them?

I just received an email from someone through our contact form asking to sign up for his or her child; that is, they provided a username and password and asked for me to create an account for them. Do you think I should do this for them, or do you think I should direct them to the registration form with instructions? I'm leaning toward the latter, but I wanted to hear others' opinions before continuing...

    Edit:
I just noticed that they actually have already registered the name they mentioned in the email, and are now awaiting activation. As they sent the email after they registered (based on times), I'm thinking they can't post and are wondering why. I've sent them a response telling them to check their Inbox, and if no email is there, their Spam folder.

Isn't there a coppa form you can send them?

I would refuse to do this otherwise everyone would want people to have there accounts made etc.

It sounds like they might be trying to get around COPPA (or they didn't understand the instructions). You don't know who sent that email, so I wouldn't activate that account until you get that permission slip.

I wouldn't register for them, they obviously have a keyboard and mouse to be able to send you an email :D But by looking at your edit I have noticed sometimes my members who sign up do not get an email despite them meant to get them and so that could be the problem they have that they haven't seen the email.

I wouldn't register for them..i do check for un-authorised accounts and send out emails asking if they need help in activating thier accounts and then just send out new activation codes..

I'd never register an account (let alone consider to do so) for a potential member. As mentioned, this appears to be one of the many ways to get around applying for membership via COPPA, which is simply not tolerated.
