Do you run any Pay Per Click advertising campaigns, such as Google AdWords? What have been your results? What is your advertising budget like?
I almost just created the same thread before stumbling across this one. I'm curious, too, about paid advertising success and experiences.
Yes and I haven't really noticed much for my dollar. First off, I'm very limited on what google will allow me to advertise due to the nature of my site. So I can't really mention my promotions like giving away complete AR15 receivers. It's against the rules. Anyhow, I was spending around 50.00 - 200.00 with very little traffic. I think I've seen only 5 new members in the last 6 months due to my google Adwords campaign. I get more traffic from the advertisement on this site and twitter than I have ever seen using google adword. It just seems like my money is better spent running banner advertisements instead. Now if AA was my site I would probably run a Google Adword for at least the length of the promotion. But that is just me. AA isn't subjected to any of the politics surrounding forums topics like used in my site.
Yes I have bought paid campaigns before. My budget is maybe 20-40 bucks a month, but I get more traffic and members from free campaigns. So its not really worth it.
I have never actually paid to advertise any of my forums yet, but the previous owner of one of them said he once spent $50 on Adwords to get 14 members.
I bought a campaign with google adwords and like others i didnt see much return by way of new members. Banner ads seem to work better for me too.

I suck at Google adwords. I've tried it several times over the years and have always felt like I wasted my money and time. I've tried buysellads with some luck when they first appeared. At the time, their categories were shorter. I strongly believe that ppc success depends on what you are promoting and how much you are willing to spend. Some you gain, some you lose.
