I've briefly played with Microsoft Word, and just took a cursory glance at Oulook. Doesn't seem too different for me; I'll have to delve deeper though another time.
I downloaded and have a beta key, just haven't had time to remove 07 and install 2010 ....but I will asap
You can keep them installed side-by-side. Just install 2010 in a directory outside of \programs or \program files. I installed mine in C:\Office2010. Then you'll be able to use 2007 and 2010 simultaneously. What happens when 2010 is out of beta? Are you forced to buy it, or do you just re-install 2007 (if you uninstalled it in the first place)?
I'm curious how Office 2010 renders HTML. 2007 was a complete flop in that respect and it uses its own engine, which is generally outputs pretty bad formatting in Outlook. I also have a plugin for Xcel that has full functionality in 2003, but is limited in 2007, again, because of it's HTML engine.
The beta isnt too bad, looks and works fine to me other than those stupid customer feedback smilies in the system tray.
Official release of 2010 The slated ship date for Office 2010 is said to be next Summer, in June: Confirmed: Office 2010 to ship in June | Software News - Betanews
I don't like them looking at me. I installed side by side my other MSOffice (xp, 2003, 2007) and anyone else notice outlook took over previous installs? Even express with asking me too.
I believe I did read somewhere that unless you have a certain version (either 32 or 64 bit -- can't remember which), Outlook will overwrite the older version. I don't recall where I read that though.
I still haven't had time to play with it much, so if I may ask: What are some of the most significant changes you have observed throughout any of the products? What are your favorite and least favorite changes or new features/tools?
The Interface. Yep, that's it. The interface in 2010 is miles beyond previous versions. That, and there is this spiffy feature that will display every Heading in a sidebar. If you click on the heading, it will take you to that part of the document. That's really all I've done with it, since all I had to do was draft an announcement in it.
Nope, I'am sticking with Open Office. I see no reason to pay for something like ms office, when I can get open office for free.
