Do you have any sort of awards that you award your members for any reason? We have awards for the weekly Noble Perch Prize winner, Member of the Month, and monthly Photo Contest winner. We have considered nominating a "Member of the Year" but we never did that. We may do it this year though. What about you? Do you recognize your members in any way?
I have never giving out any awards but on my upcoming forum I will code an award system to give recognition to users for different stuff. And since its going to be an entertainment I have decided to have like an oscar or something to give out in different categories.
Yes; they can earn a little awards image in their postbit for linking to the forum, donating, winning contests, earning 1,000 Laughs or Thanks, making video tutorials, stuff like that.
I generally try to recognize members whenever they have a birthday, whenever they've been promoted to a higher rank/group, and if they reach a certain post count.
I copied off of a forum I'm a member on, and I give a contributor title to people who contribute quality on subject material to the site, they help forums members, and much more else. It's a very sought after and very rare title.
I have a post of the month contest and have removed myself from eligibility, but last month there was a little uproar about not being able to nominate my post so another member quoted it and that post won. I think the members like it. Just sometimes the nominations come in a bit slow, like this month... I also give members the title "Article Contributor" when they submit an article.
I like to honor members if they helped the community in some significant way but are not part of the official staff team. Depending on the size of the forum, I may even give some recognition for simply being one of the more active members of the forum.
