Did I miss the announcement where the LOL smiley code was changed from lol to : lol : (without the spaces)? I, for one, found it somewhat confusing when one day, my lol became a . smiley, and the next just showed up as a text lol. ------------------ "It's always funny until someone gets hurt, and then it's just hilarious."
Same thing happened to me DD... But I recall there being a conversation awhile back about the word "lollipop" looking like ".lipop" so I imagine that's why it changed. I don't think there was any announcement, and I had to look in the smiley menu to figure out what was going on.

Yes I missed this too. I honestly prefered lol without the :'s cause it's just normal. Maybe change lollipop then? And why change the rotflmao and rofl? Quick question: Can the smiley code include spaces? If yes, then having the code be _lol_ (where the underscores are spaces), would probably work decently. It would certainly solve the "lollipop" issue, and would be much easier to adapt to than : lol :, IMHO. There is no 'lollipop' to change. It's not an action, just a word that gets screwed up when you type lol. As for changing rofl etc, it's because honestly most smilies should be contained within *something* unless I have an ascii smiley code for them. If someone wants to make ascii for every smiley we have, go right ahead so we don't have to use any symbols surrounding a word. Several people have also messaged me asking that I don't make the majority of smilies just open because lol or rofl is almost part of their vocabulary and they type it on irc/icq and stuff all the time. Difficult finding a happy medium here, and of course we have to work within the confines of the software coding. We can't really adjust how it all works from a 'coding' point of view most of the time. Nope, spaces won't be processed properly. . I don't see much of an issue with using :'s? I think the :'s are a good idea, but I probably won't ever use the smiley again...too lazy to go . too much work...yet I do it for the others, but I like just plain 'ol lol better... Cuz you can specify lol, Lol, or LOL, for different volumes of laughing... Smileys to me must be an "insert" thingy where you go to the trouble to do so.
