The new IPB 4 style is starting to show up in various blog posts about the development of IPB 4. Images from IPB 4.0 - Comments and Reviews Images from IPB 4.0 Staff Directory. Not bad looking at all, quite like the style and colours used together. I'm a fan of using black shades if it works with lighter colours and always liked the old IPB 2 Pro theme, reminds me of it and like the flat look as well. Better than using gradients, which is so 1990 now.
Have seen them and they look good its minimal, the only thing is that it might not show the power of the new template system. The thing is that a default template should show the power of the template system and what you can do with it.
It's nice but not exactly ground breaking. It doesn't really bring anything new to the table, which can argue XenForo did with their UI (love it or loathe it).
To be fair screenshots does not say much you'll need to see it on a working forum to get a good impression.
And as much as I hate agreeing with Mark B, I agree here. It's a nice look, it's very clean and 'modern', but it's also just... well, a standard forum 'appearance'. Which isn't what we really need from revolutionary and ground breaking forum software nowadays.
I Personally don't hate the UI of Xenforo but Xenforo's UI is not something I would hold as a standard for anything groundbreaking or revolutionary. That being said, i'd look more at the feature set and what the software provides vs the look as something groundbreaking, especially in a case like this where i likely will not be using the default look so how the default style looks is not incredibly significant to me. Though i can arguably understand how it could be to some people. Personally, i find it to be visually appealing compared to Xenforo default(I still don't understand the use of those colors for their default skin but meh) and I actually sort of like it almost as much as Vbulletin 5 default look.
This seems really nice. I'm personally a huge fan of that classic forum design and this is basically a much more modern take on it. When I can actually get off my iPhone and onto my computer I'm gonna have to check this out further because I still don't know how I feel about xF being the vB 3 of this generation.
