Do you allow them? Some forums disallow this because they can be obtrusive and annoying. What's your take?
I don't mind 'em, but I've hardly seen any of my members use them. Only a few have figured it out, and only one has figured out how to add a ticker. I'm not exactly about to teach them how, but I don't discourage it either.
No. No pics in sigs allowed. Nor animated avatars We are not a young group and have enough trouble focusing on the posts
Images enabled with size limitations listed in the rules. Images can be bulky and obtrusive, but smaller communities with less generic public interaction can handle it. Although I do get some interesting and witty signature images that poke at the limits of my patience.
Signatures are disabled by default, but all that they have to do is mark the checkbox. This usually only happens if something in the signature is relevant to the post/poster (I have a guy harass me with one now and again haha), a "post your signature" thread, or something like that.
x.x <3 T.T You do know sometimes people just put the UGLIEST signatures ever. It gives me some kind of OCD. XDD
You mean the obtrusive, "look at me!" signature images, right? I hear 'ya on the "OCD-like" reaction upon seeing them.
T.T Yes. I am really thinking on making signatures available for all my users T.T so they don't have to use some ugly ones.
There's a thought: pre-made signature images/banners. This could be an excellent feature for future releases of vBulletin (among the other forum scripts).
Think about it - we have the ability to offer pre-selected avatars to members, so why not take it to the next level by "factoring in" the ability to offer pre-selected signature images?
Signature image gallery~ Only problem would be that some users might want their names in it, other than that I think it would be very handy... specially for me T~T
Truth, but it would have to be placed at a specific position on the signature, no? At least in my opinion, not all positions look good on some signatures, therefore it varies. Nonetheless that's a great idea.
I agree with that, but perhaps the majority of the images would turn out decent-looking. Maybe you'd only have to manually re-do a small percentage.
Another great idea - possibly merging it with mine would create an excellent default feature addition.
I know some people over on the Living Avatars forum suggested the script could be repurposed for something like this, but 1) it does not support text, let alone custom fonts, and 2) it has trouble rendering anything other than a square. Could be interesting to let the user pick their own elements for the image though.
