How many team members (moderators, administrators, etc.) do you have? At what point do you find it necessary to add more moderators?
At the moment (on my most active forum), I have six team members - two of whom are co-administrators.
1 other administrator... No moderators. Here's my ratio; 1:4,000 posts - one moderator per four thousand posts.
It really depends of the size of the forum but when i start a new forum then there is me and maybe 1 smod and when it gets bigger i add more moderators depending of how much i need them.
It really does depend on the size and activity of a forum. I've seen some discussion communities start out with five administrators and three super moderators. Is there really any need for that? Eh...
I do not think there is a need for that unless you start of very big and gets many users the first day or two, and that is not very likely that it will happend.
Exactly. Unless a newly created community suddenly receives an influx of major activity, there is no need for a staff team that large (in the beginning).
Not to mention the "intimidation" factor - a new member decides to join a newly created forum (with no threads or posts) and then realizes that there are eight staff members online.
 I'd get the vibe of desperation and leave anyways. And then I accidentally post in the wrong forum and get eight warning PMs or something. :p
Hehe that misstake was one i made when i was like eleven or something and created my first forum, it was an fansite for the game Tibia that i used to play and i had like more then half of the members at the beginning as smods. It was like 10 members :p But i learned of my misstake and i was just a kid back then
