I suggest MyBB anyway. phpBB is crap when it comes to mods. Only thing is, I'm not quite sure how you'd work out with the current MyBB arcade plugins.

BTW, I think just a touch of color to either of those mock-ups would be awesome.

 

Both of them are great, but as many mentioned, too much gray, how about using a tri-color gradient - purple, gray, then white, or something like that...

Other than that, nice.

 

Slight update - changed the headers (not sure if I like the new purple)... and added a footer.

Thanks for the feedback - what I will to do next is create the forum in static HTML & CSS, and then paste across the php code from either phpBB / MyBB vBulletin - so this way it should be easy to create styles for more than one piece of software

I like your custom design images and the arcade it looks fantastic... the boards could do with a little bit of work (the forums I mean). But it is definately a good start.

 

Hey, this may interest you - you can probably edit it, with the approval of the designer. Just so you have the forum's index colors. The background may not appeal to you.

 

He is making his own skin, why would he want someone elses work.
