I think that it would be pretty safe to say that most people who admin forums will have larger screens than others. I'm only on a 19 inch ws and about half of the width of the site is blank.
Awesome response time; thanks! Shouldn't be an issue to change it in the CSS of the current design though.
We're very consistent with this. Check a few of the other suggestions/support threads and you'll see. I think our fastest response was two minutes which consisted of 1) a suggestion being posted and 2) the request being implemented. I did it with a "fierce quickness" as Jacquii put it - http://www.adminaddict.net/forum/suggestions-feedback/increase-attachment-uploads-564/ ... I'm always proud of that. :unhunh:
A couple of years ago I stayed with 800 pixels wide. but in the past year I have stayed with 1000 pixels wide. This usually gives a 24 pixel buffer before the screen stretches.
Fluid is aways best I reckon, looks much better and you can adjust sizes if youre monitor is too big or small
For a forum I agree. I go fixed on a lot of sites though... somewhere in the 925-975px wide region usually, depends what it is though.
Fluid layouts make me leave/not join. I don't enjoy going from one end of the screen to all the way on the other side for posts/articles.
Yeah I guess once you get up into the larger sized monitors that can be quite annoying to read; I guess that I should have went with elastic rather than fluid.
Quoted for the truth. My monitor is HUGE, and it would be a hassle. I prefer it how it is atm, if not maybe a little bigger.
I lose about 2/3.. I wouldn't mind seeing some modules to the side in an elastic layout (as opposed to me saying fluid earlier)
