I was playing around with a plugin that I have for Photoshop and came up with these forum status icons. View attachment 452 New Posts View attachment 453 No New Posts View attachment 454 Forum Locked View attachment 456 Forum Locked Alt I figured these would be good for a fantasy or sci-fi forum.
I know, I know...bevels. :p But in this case they really were necessary. :p No comment? Should I create a button set to go along with these?
I understand. I guess that's kinda what I was going for...or maybe an ADND forum (is that game still around? My cousin used to be VERY into it.). FMB, would you mind doing me one small favor? What do you not like about them, other than maybe just not being your style? Thanks!
Well, I think the colors is one thing I don't like. specially for the red one, I have a feeling it is a bit TOO red. Forum locked, where the border is, it should match a bit the middle graphic, it is noticeable the color changes, the border being orangy and then the middle having a combination of metal and red. Now, Forum Locked ALT is a prime example of " keeping the flow", I like that one and the " mystic" look inside the orb of the first one.
Thank you so much for clarifying! Let me explain the first Forum Locked...it's exactly the same as the No New Posts orb, but the orb itself has a perforated metal sheet over it. I know it's kinda disjointed, but I finally figured out how to make it similar to the outer ring (which is supposed to be rusty metal, btw). And that's where the bars came from. Thanks again for your review!

Thanks! I'm starting to get a feel for how this plugin works, and I think it will be a huge help for a lot of different projects.
YES! I love the second set too. Never played oblivion, but it sure reminds me of a WoW forum or Diablo.
The first set are visually better. The colours are so much better in the first set also. Rich red and rustic colours you used in the first set gave off that feel you would expect in a RPG/wow theme. However, the bevels are too much. Instead of bevels why not try using gradient overlays? and experiment with the adjustment layers to further refine the feel. I don't like the second set at all, too bright imo. Otherwise, nice work yet again.
Thank you, Shelley. I'm going to put my foot down on the bevel thing for these (both the first and second sets) because that was the intended effect. The frames around the center, orb, part is meant to be round circles with a round cross-section. Exactly the effect I was going for. Either set works for me, to tell you the truth. I could change the rust color on the second set, but that's as far as I'd change it.
