Who do you think has the best Home Page? Free Forums: Mybb PhpBB SMF Paid: Vbulletin Invision Power Board -- I personally think IPB have the best layout and that will probably make them buy IPB more then say vbulletin, because look how plain the vbulletin home page is..then i would say Mybb because it looks so clean.. But whats your opinion and why do you think a person might choose forum software due to the designs and layout of the page.
Mybb since its so clean and you see that it directly involves the community. IPB looks more proffesional though.
Definitely Invision - absolutely nice and professional web site. But I don't think that the website directly influences the sales THAT much with forum software. What it does do though, is it influences the way you look at the product to a certain extent. It sets a mood. Which of course can play a role in your decision.
None of them. Harsh, but I don't think anyone should be persuaded by the non forum software powered home pages of the forum software listed (especially considering vBulletin and I think Invision have a CMS planned). Then again, I'm personally someone who pays little attention to website layouts when making decisions.
Then I've got to admit, I'm impressed, and I'd say until vBulletin 4 comes out and we can see the CMS on their home page, that Invision has the better home page because it uses an official product for the purpose.
With vBulletin's CMS you will be able to publish articles and have categories with articles in them. Something that AFAIK Invision's product cannot do. I don't think vBulletin's CMS is gonna be second to Invision's.
Yeah, but vBulletin's CMS will be out later, at which time it'll probably have the best home page. Sorry, I don't know, I've never liked SMF much.
Invision Power Services utilizes a very "professional" appearance - that's the problem; it's too sales-like for me. I personally am quite fond of MyBB's website overall. It's clean + elegant, yet it maintains a level of simplicity that is easy on the eyes and refreshing to see. Some may argue that it is childish - I find it to be the exact opposite.
I like IPB's modern look, though I think it's HUGE on my monitor, but I think MyBB's look is perfect. pretty much you can make a forum on MyBB look awesome with a few changes if you don't know much about designing.
