I think I'm one in a million here, but it's worth a shot anyway... I have some serious forum description (and forum name) OCD. If the descriptions and forum names are not visually appealing to me, I must change it. I don't mean what the actual text says, but how it looks without reading it. I usually cannot stand having the last forum name of a category being shorter than the rest: The Amazingly Awesome Lounge For Webmasters The Technology and Internet Zone Music and Entertainment Off-Topc ...that absolutely kills me. I would literally make it like this just to please myself: The Technology and Internet Zone Music and Entertainment Off-Topc The Amazingly Awesome Lounge For Webmasters The same goes for the actual description. I don't like descriptions that don't look full when they're the last forum of the category. Otherwise I feel like it's "top-heavy". Also, something that we have on AA which is a bit of a minor annoyance is the forums with the most posts and threads being at the top of the category, lol. Notice how this very section has many more posts and threads than the rest and it's at the top. Anyone else as crazy as me?
Yeah, that's just a little obsessive, and your users aren't going to care one bit. But it's that same attention to detail that made your forum what it is today, so fly your OCD flag high! I once refused to add a much-requested feature (MySpace-like profiles) on the grounds that they offended my aesthetic sensibilities!
Yeah, even if my members will never care or notice it, I will (and I'll hate it). So if it's my own forum, I'll do things my way and no one will have ever known. :p
Houndoom is going to come back and bite you in the ass one day. And haunt you forever - you wait... just keep it up.
