XF all the way. VB4 is out dated. VB5 isn't even a forum, more of a CMS and a poor quality over priced one at that.

Free ones usually suck when it comes to customising them.

IPB is too expensive for what it can do.

XF is bang on the money and is building its database of add-ons quite quickly.

    Zetaboards, phpBB, MyBB.
I'm not too keen on the paid software.

    Paid: Xenforo

    Free: SMF

I have tried other forum software, but those two seem the easiest for me to administrate and troubleshoot problems. Although Xenforo overall wins out. SMF is good when I want to put up a forum but not sure if it will work out or not. Better to use a free forum than sink money into another Xenforo license.

Viglink can be turned on or off. If you don't know what viglink is, just google it.

Basically you can earn with your forum When viglink automatically adds an affiliate link into forum posts. Lets say you write word tennis into the topic. Viglink makes it ebay link and when they press that tennis link it leads to ebay.com and from every sale, you get a commission.

Thank you for taking the time to tell me. Sounds like a really nice option indeed especially with viglink adding the affiliate links themselves. :)
