Just wondering if anyone here uses Vanilla. I think it's really awesome for small communities, or communities that really aren't all about the forum, such as a blog site or something.
It's also extremely easy to theme and I really like how they put all the threads on the main forum page, really awesome.

I used it for a while. I love the script, the layout and everything about it. I like the question and answer idea behind it. The only reason I no longer use it is I sold the site.

It's good if you need a quick , light weight and not too powerful forum solution for like a blog or CMS or something. I only used it as a user on one site. It was okay at best but it just wasn't for what I needed. :)

I was interested at first, but then I don't like the design. It doesn't feel intuitive as say, xenForo.

I agree with Carlos. It fairly nice but the design is not great and I found administration to be difficult. In the end I chose vbulletin over anything else.

I have tried it once for a client's site and for my editors on the blog. I run a small editor team and a forum is nice for us to discuss various 'admin' stuff and all to see the messages. Have installed Vanilla and uninstalled it in 30 minutes. It's too simple for my liking and, even if I didn't need a fancy forum for my team, it didn't do the job. So I installed MyBB and we're doing our job easier with it.

I tried it once but didn't like it. I think the Vanilla team needs to include more features to make it more popular. The design as well as administration leaves a lot to be desired and I can't imagine big businesses using it in its current form.

I haven't used it before, it really hasn't struck out at me like other software.

I have never heard of this script before. How does it fare against other scripts such as MyBB?

Don't use it and never have used it. Vanilla just strikes me as poorly designed software, and I don't care for its attempts to change the basic forum structure.

I don't like it, I remember when the Allhiphop forums made the switch from vBulletin forums to Vanilla boards, a lot of users hated the change and activity seems to have went down there since the switch happened. They claimed "vanilla is easier to customize than vBulletin", I wouldn't know because I've yet to use Vanilla.

It's obvious why they hated the change, the way the structure of the software works - bad.
