How do you convey emotion in your posts? Smilies, italicized, ALL CAPS? Or do you not even care about how your posts are read? I've always tried to use whatever combination of smilies and italicization, mixed with a few all caps words. When I read my own posts, I feel like I'm communicating exactly what I feel in my posts, but I'm not sure how other people take it. I know that a lot of people hate similies and consider them to be unwanted shortcuts to communicating emotion. Then you have so many people that don't seem to care about emotion in their posts at all and usually say as little as possible in their communications. The problem with that group is that, for those that I've met on the phone or in person, they aren't the same person they are online, and they're actually full of emotion. Then again, some are (Ahem...Mark... :p ).
I really didnt care how my posts were read, Its Just People Cant Read Good I Guess. Hehe, I dont see why they hate it. I mean everyone hates This Kind Of Typing. I done a school paper, and a few things with capitalized words Like This. Seems i still do it....here, You All Hate It Dont YOu? Haha, its true, who you are in person and on the phone isnt the same person you are online. But if you take it the other way, then thats just you.
Ak Worm doesnt it usually take longer to type like that any way? I dont really know, I type how I feel, Ill underline, italicize and bold words according to how I feel it. Ill also use emoticons, but nothing more than just the typical emoticons, unless I was trying to be creative.
It varies. If I'm feeling some sort of extreme emotion(s), I'll generally use italics or boldness to express 'em (or, in other words, if I feel strongly about something).
I generally try to reserve smileys for the ends of paragraphs, or better yet, the end of the post. I have to be careful as I have a tendency to overuse them if I don't consciously make an effort to stop.
I an very sparky when I actually speak to a person, I don't know he it differs from how I type, most people just don't expect my english accent. I think I do convey my emotions with different phrases and smilies.
I do not particularly care about using things like bold, italics or smilies to convey emotion, since you can usually tell emotion (except I guess sarcasm) quite well from just the wording of someone's posts. I keep things like text formatting for stuff like titles, lists, tables and images.
ALL BOLD LETTER CAPS!! Just playing, I generally use emoticons to display emotions. That or I will use bold key words and or make type them in caps.
A mix of everything I find is best. I mean I'm pretty anal about the quirks of how people communicate, so i use everything. A lot of "...."s Slang and otherwise butchered words so they sound how I would like them to, also varying levels of formality. Bold and italics not as much, but caps I use to stress. Changing from good to bad grammar for formality and emphasis of seriousness etc. It all depends on you, but i find it creates character in your writing.
I am like that too, I cant help putting a smiley after every damn word It isnt as bad as that but I do use them more than I really should, it probably makes people see me as someone a lot younger than I really am, or at least thats what I reckon.
I care very much how my posts are read and interpreted. Thus I utilize all of the tools at my disposal - bold, italics, caps, smileys (mostly smileys). I don't usually use ALL CAPS unless I'm pretty upset. Seriously, if people don't "get" what I mean when they read my post, there ain't no gettin' to be got.
