Uhh, we used it once, but people kept complaining[Pisoga], so we took them off. We still censor racial slurs. I find it pretty handy.

We don't have any censorships in place, as it really depends on the usage of the words to determine whether it's inappropriate or not (with the exception of racial slurs).

I deal with profanity on a case-by-case basis.

I have a few censored words/phrases in place, such as f*** (never any good reason to use that word unless you're doin' it :p ), god****, mother****** - stuff like that.

I dislike seeing **** in posts. I think it is more creative to replace the words (if you have to do it - I don't cuz I have no reason to). :D

I don't believe in censoring the material being posted unless it's profanity being used to an extreme extent. A few curse words here and there are fine, unless they're being directed towards another member and/or active individual in the community.

I'm just going to echo whats been said, it all depends on the usage of the word(s).

I never bother with censoring. What does it do except encourage people to get around it or effectively ignore it? the result is the same. Someone sees f--- they know what those last three letters are, 19 times out of 20 unless they are not native speakers.

You don't need to use any of the "seven dirty words" to make an offensive post. One troll tried to justify his behavior by claiming I hadn't filtered out the words he used, therefore they must be allowed. One of my admins replied and told him he was expected to use his brain as the filter.

I don't have censors in place.

Like Nick, I deal with profanity on a case-by-case basis. Which, more or less, is rarely.

And it all depends how users use curse words in context. So having censors are sometimes not needed if only directed at an individual.

I added diseases like 'cancer' to my filter. In my country people tend to swear with diseases instead of words like 'f**k'. One of the reasons why I don't understand why so many people find 'f**k' a horrible word for swearing.

Simply put, I would never censor anything or edit someone's post for a reason like this.

That's interesting Demo; may I ask what country you're living in? I'd never heard of diseases being used as swear words, but I guess it makes a certain amount of sense.

I used to use a censorship, But I had it disabled a few months back because I was fed up with *** in users posts.

When my members can not hold their own tongue, I will hold it for them.

Meaning, that if you can not show some kind of self control while on my site, then I will put measures in place to control you.
