Probably cause those damn single ladies kept telling me they were in my area and I couldn't find them!
Still don't have ability to send pm... even with "active group" I personally feel it is a horrible idea to restrict someone from sending a PM... which is expected on any forum, until someone jumps through hoops.
ah, I didn't know you replied to a thread as well as the profile comment. It's in place to prevent spam and encourage activity, thanks for your opinion on the matter. Either way.. I was able to start a convo with you, do you see the start convo link on the member card or in each post? I just checked the active group, the only one you're in and it shows you should be able to see them. I'm in the middle of something right now but I'll login to a test account to check as well.
@ Brandon I can see the start conversation but when I try to send you a PM is says I do not have permission. It seems that the imitation also applies to a member sending a PM to staff. Was this your intention.
Thanks I have read and understand the details in post 3. I think you may have misunderstood the question. I was asking if it was your intention to have this apply to Pm's from new members to STAFF. As it seems odd that a new member cannot contact an admin via pm if needed. I understand the need to stop spammers although I think that 25 is too many, IMHO, most spammers of the "good post" type do tend to post their links after the tenth post.
Thank you. I just wanted to tell you what a great job you are doing!! But I guess I can pat someone else on the back instead. Just Joking Honestly!
I do find the atmosphere here is a very friendly one. I do have a suggestion/ question. I understand the site is for admins, how do you know that a new member is actually an admin on a site? Is there a way to check this? Of course I could be making meaningless banter to get my post count up so I can PM you. NOT true of course =23 posts. 25, I can go home now. BUGGER ! got to wait a week .
Why would someone join if they're not thinking about running a site or running a site already. you can certainly contact me if needed http://admin-talk.com/misc/contact
A valid point. I was thinking of spammers and assorted nere do wells. Thank you for the contact point. I only have a couple of days to go before I can PM hopefully.
The staff don't know whether someone is running a forum, but honestly, they don't need to know or care about that. After all, someone could join before their new sites open to try and get some advice on how to run it (due to being new to forum management). Best to encourage that. And even if someone doesn't own a website, being an Admin Talk member can be useful just so they can see why admins and moderators make the decisions they do. And yes, Admin Talk is a really friendly forum with some great members!
I think they added the post requirement because some people might join and PM everyone websites the second they join to annoy users or to advertise their site. This is a big site with lots of friendly people so they might find it useful to spam others via pm with their sites to get more members on their sites, surprising what people would do just for members.
